About Us

Since 1988, Know Knew Books has been an independent used bookstore in Palo Alto. We carry books, comics, records, CDs, DVDs, toys, pictures, and other items, including a number of unusual and collectible books. Individual reviews can be found at the Know Knew Books page on yelp and the the Know Knew Books page on insiderpages. We have been featured in The Paly Voice from Palo Alto High School. Know Knew Books is located near to a pizza parlor and a Mediterranean restaurant on California Avenue, with an independent natural foods store almost across the street.

We are open from 10:00AM to 10:00PM on Monday through Saturday. We are also open from 12:00PM to 8:00PM on Sundays.

Features and Events

Know Knew Books is more than just books-we host multiple events each month. Past events have included book signings, a book reading by the author of a book, breakdancing performances and poetry readings. Information about current and upcoming events and exhibits is given below.

• A book signing by Betsy Franco will be done near the end of January 2010.
• The Firehouse Collective, a collection of artwork from the Firehouse East/West Studios and the Firehouse North Studio in Berkeley, CA, is on display at Know Knew Books.
• Numerology readings will be done by Michael Bisbiglia on the second Wednesday of each month, from 2:00PM to 10:00PM.
• Tea leaf readings will be done by Ann Graff on the third Saturday of each month, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.
• A breakdancing event will be done on the third Saturday of each month. This event starts at 8:00PM.

The Literate League

For even more benefits, customers can join The Literate League at Know Knew Books. It is possible to join the League at the levels of $100, $250, $500, and $1000. Joining the Literate League for a one-year period brings the following benefits, among others:

• A store gift certificate with a value equal to the level of joining.
• Free admission to events at the store.
• Special sales for members only.
• Advance notice of sales and events via a members-only mailing list.
